Arts Training

Willow offers free workshops & seminars in a variety of skill levels & artistic disciplines as well as professional development opportunities to the membership. These are designed to introduce new art forms & skills to aspiring Member Artists, or refine, diversify & professionalize the arts practice of emerging & established Member Artists.

Willow hires professional artists as instructors, many with lived experience of mental illness/substance use. They design & teach all classes, which are offered seasonally in Fall, Winter & Spring. Classes vary from season to season & support visual, performance, literary, fiber, & media artists.

Open Studio

The Willow provides 2.5 hours a week of shared studio space during each arts training season with access to materials & resources to create and explore new work. We encourage Member Artists to bring in their projects & materials from home.

Work solo or with a small group, Open Studios are a great place to connect & discover new interests through the arts. Emerging & established Member Artists can sign up to facilitate small workshops (some restrictions will apply).

Seasonal Arts Exhibitions

At the end of each arts training season, Member Artists present their work in group performances, publications, & visual art displays. Free & open to the public, seasonal exhibitions help to facilitate dialogue, reduce stigma, & celebrate social integration. They also serve to promote our Member Artists to a wider audience, leading to recognition, earned income & additional opportunities to launch or further their careers.
