What are your hours of operation?
Our in-studio arts education programs happen within the three seasons: Fall (September – early December), Winter (January – March), and Spring (April – June). Special projects with community partners happen all year round. Class times and programs change from season to season.
How do I become a member?

Why are your programs free?
Willow Arts affirms that the arts are essential to the health and wellbeing of a vibrant community and should be accessible to all. Our commitment to remaining at no cost is driven by the understanding that the majority of individuals with MI/SU live at or below the poverty line, with the rising cost of living exacerbating this divide.
How can I help?
We are able to provide our programming at no cost to participants thanks to the support of our funders, sponsors, and individual donors.
If you would like to support us with a financial contribution, you can donate through our website or contact us to learn about other options. The Willow Arts Community is a registered charity and charitable tax receipts will be issued for all financial donations.
You can also support our work by volunteering your time or donating materials and supplies to our studio.
How can I donate art supplies, musical instruments, and/or other resources?
The Willow welcomes donations of materials, supplies, musical instruments, and equipment that can be used in our studio and for our arts education courses and workshops.
Supplies we use the most include
- acrylic and watercolour paints (not oil paints)
- conte crayons and sketching charcoal
- canvases
- sketchbooks
- watercolour paper
- air dry clay (not kiln dry)
If you have other art making supplies and equipment that you are interested in donating, please contact us and we can discuss which materials will be useful to Willow members.
Do I have to be an experienced (or good) artist to join?
No. Membership is suitable for: individuals who are motivated to explore their creative identities, creatives looking to connect and learn alongside peers, and artists that already have a dedicated arts practice.
How much does it cost to participate?
Membership is free, and all artistic programs and creative opportunities are offered to our membership at no cost. Materials are provided, and members are welcome to bring their own supplies if they can.
Do I need a referral from a doctor or social worker?
No. We do not provide social work or group therapy of any kind; rather, we provide access to arts programming and creative opportunities in a supportive and inclusive environment. Formal diagnosis is not necessary. We celebrate the therapeutic value of artistic creation and expression, peer support, social inclusion, and stigma reduction.
