We are proud to provide the opportunity for Willow members to exhibit their work in a professional gallery. Throughout the year, members attend workshops and courses at our studio to refine or expand their arts practices. They also have access to the Open Studio and art materials to make work independently for this show. Members look forward to this meaningful and impactful opportunity each year.
This is an important event to celebrate new work being created each year by Willow Arts members, and for the wider community to witness and appreciate the unique perspective and skills of Willow artists. Submissions include mixed media, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, fibre arts, music, poetry, and interactive installation. Our opening receptions feature spoken word, choir performances, and original music from our performing artists.
Our grassroots efforts took root at Rodman Hall Art Centre/Brock University in 2016 and it allowed us to be included in the cultural landscape of the city. We would exhibit twice a year in their community room to well attended opening receptions. This loss was felt when Rodman Hall closed its doors in 2020. In 2023, Willow Arts was invited to exhibit in the Visual Arts Gallery and Exhibition Space at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts/Brock University campus. We are grateful for this continued relationship and partnership with Brock University. The renewed professional opportunity to exhibit work is vital to the work we do at Willow Arts Community.
